Summary

SUBJECT: NAVIGATION - DEPENDENT POSITION DETERMINING - GLOBAL POSITIONING - SYSTEM - FULLY OPERATIONAL SYSTEM INSTALLATION

BACKGROUND

Change instructions and a kit of parts were prepared for the installation of a fully operational Global Positioning System.

ACTION (MC 3458MK4020)

In the flight deck in the P7 circuit breaker panel:

- Replace two indicia strips

- Install two circuit breakers

- Add four wires in the panel and two wires from the panel to splice area CA.

At Station 810, LBL 4.5, WL 400:

- Cut hole thru skin and install antenna doubler

- Install operator supplied GPS antenna.

At Station 850, RBL 4.5, WL 400:

- Cut hole thru skin and install antenna doubler

- Install operator supplied GPS antenna.

Between Stations 780 and 800, at stringer 3L:

- Install GPS sensor unit mounting provisions

- Install operator supplied GPS sensor unit.

Between Stations 820 and 840, at stringer 3L:

- Install GPS sensor unit mounting provisions

- Install operator supplied GPS sensor unit.

Between each GPS sensor unit and antenna:

- Install new stringer straps and a bracket assembly

- Install partial pre-fabricated wire bundle.

Between the GPS sensor unit and main equipment center:

- Install two ground blocks

- Install two bracket assemblies

- Install two angle assemblies

- Install one grommet

- Install eleven straps with mounting plate and clamps

- Install two new partially pre-fabricated wire bundles from each sensor unit to main equipment center shelves E1-3, E1-6, E2-1, and E2-3.

In the main equipment center:

- In the MAWEA card file, add two wires between splice area CA and the card file

- On the E2-1 shelf, add wires between the R-FMC and the W4210 WIU and add wires in the W4210 WIU

- On the E2-3 shelf, add wires between the L-FMC and the W4230 WIU and add wires in the W4230 WIU

- On the E1-3 shelf, add wires in the W4130 WIU

- On the E1-6 shelf, add wires in the W4160 WIU

- On the E2-1 shelf, add wires in the W4210 WIU

- On the E2-3 shelf:

- Add wires in the W4230 WIU

- Install two receptacles

- On the E2-6 shelf:

- On airplane RT649, add wires in the W4260 WIU

- On airplane RT654, add wires in the W4970, W4980 and W4990 mini WIU's.

Do GPS system and interface functional tests.
